Top Ten Prostate Massagers For Beginners
Our top 10 prostate massagers for beginners is one of the first lists to distinguish between massagers made for newbies and pros. It’s an important distinction because where you fall in the camp should decide what type of massager you buy.
For example, it is a mistake of epic proportions for a newbie to buy what amounts to a tree limb with a V6 motor. It will not be fun.
At the same token, it’s a mistake for advanced players to buy what amounts to a fleshy Q-tip. It will not be fun either.
Given the importance of these distinctions it’s a wonder why most top ten lists lump beginner massagers with advanced ones.
Part of the reason is that some sex toys come in different sizes. So it’s possible that a prostate massager could land on a top 10 beginner list as well as a top 10 Advanced player list.
Be that as it may, we think it is important to make a distinction between newbies and pros. So we did.
A quick word on how we arrived at this list given that there are hundreds of massagers out there.
First thing is we only rate prostate massagers made out of body safe materials. That eliminates an enormous number of massagers.
We have a core value on our site: do not promote sex toys that are a health hazard. this is why you may not see some of the more popular toys on this list.
As you may know, we do not review sex toys. We aggregate reviews from critics and users and turn them into single understandable scores to help you make a wiser purchase.
Like the movie review site Rotten Tomatoes, we don’t have a stake in naming anyone a winner or a loser. Instead, we are aggregators. Basically, we survey the reviews that are out there and summarize them for you, saving you hours and hours of research.
So the list you’re about to see reflects not our opinion or our personal taste, but the wisdom of the crowds. Enjoy!

The Criteria For Our Top 10 Prostate Massagers For Beginners
How do you define a beginner versus a pro?
Size.
No really, size is everything. 🙂
Seriously, the single defining feature of a prostate massager made for beginners is that it has a much smaller size– for easy insertion.
A small footprint (or assprint, as it were) is critical for the ability of newbies to enjoy the product. Most beginners not only have tight sphincters, they don’t know how to relax them.
And nothing creates more tightness and anxiety than looking at a vibrating kielbasa and thinking it will rip your insides out!
Therefore, the first criteria to get on our list is that the product is small enough that it won’t freak anybody’s butt out.
Prostate massagers made for beginners tend not to have vibration capabilities. That’s not totally true for all lines of products but it mostly is and we’ll tell you why.
Most beginners are leery. They’re still trying to wrap their minds around putting anything up their butts, let alone something that might fry their insides.
They wrongfully fear that they will either get electrocuted or get seriously hurt from too-hard vibrations.
Nothing could be further from the truth because vibrating prostate massagers are specifically designed for the body parts they’ll be entering.
The third selection criteria for our list is the simplicity of the product. Again, newbies are turned off by say, a vibrator that can be operated by your iPhone. It’s too complicated at their stage of experience. That’s why the few beginner vibrating massagers tend to be very simple.
User Level Is Fluid
There are three sex toy user camps– beginner, intermediate, and advanced.
While we make hard distinctions between them, the truth is that some prostate toys could be labeled beginner- intermediate or intermediate-advanced. For our purposes, we are going to make discrete categories because we think it will be more helpful, especially to beginners.
Helpful Hints For Men New To Ass Play
Why would anybody stick an object up their ass?
Because if that object stimulates the prostate in just the right way you will get harder, cum more, shoot farther, and have the orgasm of your life.
What’s not to like?
And don’t even get us started on the health benefits. If you are suffering from an enlarged prostate or erectile dysfunction, prostate massage can be your ticket to health.
Research has shown that milking your prostate is critical to prostate health and it’s been proven to alleviate symptoms of erectile dysfunction.
How does it do that?
The prostate makes the liquid that the sperm swims in. You know it as semen. The more active the prostate is in producing this fluid and expelling it into the urethra the healthier it gets. This comes under the category of “use it or lose it.”
Sexual excitement fills the prostate with fluid. When it is expelled it cleans out all the pipes leading to it and from it. this has beneficial effects on the prostate itself.
So there is a feedback loop. The more sexually excited you get the more the prostate fills with fluid. The more the prostate fills with fluid the harder you’re going to get, which is why it has an effect on erectile dysfunction.
Well prostate massage is not a mainstream treatment for erectile dysfunction, several studies have shown improvement in patients.
Given all those benefits the real question isn’t why you would stick an object up your ass but why you wouldn’t!
For beginners it’s important to know how to relax your sphincter before you try a prostate massager.
It doesn’t matter how small the massager is, if you are locked up so tight down there that you can’t fit a pinky without squealing like a city bus then no prostate massager is going to deliver pleasure to you no matter how good it is.
So, to make sure you can enjoy the benefits of a prostate massage we’ve created a step-by-step guide appropriately titled, How To Relax Your Sphincter.
Once you’ve learned how to relax so thoroughly you can stick your arm in there up to your elbow (we’re kidding!) you can also read our guide, How To Use A Prostate Massager.
How To Pick The Best Prostate Massager For Beginners
If we don’t say so ourselves, our list top 10 prostate massagers for beginners is terrific… but it’s really only a starting point.
See, that list is simply tell you the top-ranked prostate massagers. It does not take into account your budget, the materials you prefer it be made out of or wether the products vibrate.
This is important. What if you’re on a budget and can’t afford some of the massagers on this list? After all, the highest quality massagers–the expensivie ones– tend to have the highest ratings.
What if you only want a prostate massager made out of silicone, not glass, steel or plastic, which are all on this list.
That’s why the best way of choosing a massager that fits your needs is to take our prostate massager quiz.
This quiz will ask you four questions that get to the heart of selecting a prostate massager: your experience level, your budget, your material preferences and whether you want the toy to vibrate or not.
The algorithm in our quiz is designed to search for the highest ranking prostate massager made with your stated preferences. Frankly, that kind of answer is way better than a static list (even though we love our static lists!).
We highly encourage you to take this free quiz as often as you like. A lot of men tell us that they use the quiz repeatedly because it allows them to look at different options, especially if they can’t make up their minds about what they want.
Enjoy!
Tips On Using Any of Our Top Ten Prostate Massagers
How do you even begin to use a prostate massager if you are new to anal play?
The first challenge is to relax your sphincter enough to let the toy in. This can be a lot harder than it seems because we have two sphincters we have to deal with.
Two sphincters?
Yes, everybody has two sphincters. The one you know about is the one you use to stop yourself from taking a dump in your best friend’s living room.
You know about that sphincter because you use it a lot throughout the day. Like when you release it to defecate. And when you stop yourself from peeing mid-stream.
This external sphincter obeys conscious commands. Here try it. Squinch your starfish 10 times in a row. Feel it?
Those tightenings are called kegel exercises. Know who uses these a lot? Women who just went through pregnancy as it is used to tighten the anus and the vagina.
The external sphincter, because it obeys conscious commands, is pretty easy to relax. However it has a twin brother and he doesn’t listen to anybody, especially you.
This is the internal sphincter and it operates alongside the external one. The problem is that you cannot command it to do anything.
Like your heartbeat or your breathing you cannot order it around. However, you can do the things that result in that sphincter relaxing. Just like you cannot consciously slow down your heart rate you can do things that result in a slowed heart rate. Like meditating.
It’s the same concept here for the internal sphincter. While you cannot control it you can do things to make it obey you indirectly.
Here’s how:
Tighten your sphincter really hard right now. It doesn’t matter where you are nobody will know. 🙂
Now Watch what Happens for a full minute. The first 20 to 30 seconds or so you can do it no problem. But as time goes by you can slowly feel the sphincter loosening despite your best efforts at tightening it.
Now keep tightening it as the clock ticks on until there is nothing you can do but submit to the release.
Congratulations, you just learned the first principle effectively relaxing the internal sphincter: in order to get it to relax you first must tighten your anus.
Notice what happened? By consciously tightening your sphincter you subconsciously, with enough time, forced the internal sphincter to relax.
Forced is a strong word. Perhaps a better word is that you allowed it to relax.
This is an important concept for you to get– tension is the way to relaxation. In order to get the internal sphincter to relax you must first tighten up everything.
Basically, what you are aiming for is muscle fatigue. Because that is what causes spontaneous relaxation .
Do this: tighten your left hand into a fist. Really hard. Then take the index finger of your right hand and try to poke it through your fist between the thumb and the index finger. Notice what happens?
Nothing. No way your index finger is going through your closed fist.
Now keep tightening your fist for as long as you can and see what happens. Eventually you cannot maintain the tension and it relaxes.
So what does all this have to do with inserting a prostate massager?
You will insert the massager at the point that you cannot hold the tension and the sphincter relaxes on its own.
So here are the steps in sequence: first, put the prostate massager up against your sphincter firmly but not aggressively. Make sure that you have plenty of lube on the massager. This is one of those things where nothing succeeds like excess. There is no such thing as too much lube.
Now, tighten your sphincter as hard as you can and keep it tight for as long as you can.
In about 60 seconds you will notice that you cannot hold the tension in your sphincter and it will start to relax. It is at that moment, when the sphincters relax on their own, that you gently insert the prostate massager.
Did we say gently? Because we meant GENTLY.
Now notice what happened. Your anus actually provided a small vacuum and lifted the massager up into the anal cavity.
Very cool.
This is something you should pay attention to. When it comes to anal play, you are not necessarily inserting something as you are letting it be vacuumed up.
Of course that requires you to do the butterfly– tightening the wings of the sphincter and then releasing them.
The best way to practice this is with your fingers. Simply put your fingers firmly up against your sphincter without actually entering the anal cavity. Make sure your fingers are lubed up. Now start the butterfly.
Tighten your anus as hard as you can for as long as you can. At the moment you feel the inevitable release gently start inserting your finger and you will see that your anus will aid and abet the insertion through a small vacuum. Once you start doing that with a prostate massager instead of a finger the fun really begins.
Because if you can get the massager in without suffering any pain it sets you up nicely for the pleasure that comes from stimulating the prostate.
